WHY I AM RUNNING FOR DISTRICT COURT JUDGE
The idea that I should run for judge and that I might have something to contribute to the bench is one that formed slowly. After all, as the only child of a working mother from a small town Kansas who runs a small family owned law firm, I am an unlikely candidate for elected office. However, when I look at the country I love it is readily apparent that we have lost our way. America is on the wrong track and, unless we reverse course, my children will grow up in a country that has little semblance to the country in which I was raised, that country, which Ronald Reagan properly described as a shining city on a hill. I am not a politician. I cannot reverse the damage that the Obama Administration has caused but I can do something. I can strive to re-build our country close to home. I can protect, defend and promote the Constitution and our founding principles at the local level. I can, at least in my court room, uphold the ideal that America is a nation of laws and not of men.

CONSTITUTIONAL CONSERVATIVE
Government at every level has become disconnected from those three little words upon which our independence is based: “We the people.” As we moved further and further from this foundation we have lost touch with other founding principles, with the idea of federalism, with the idea of limited government, with the constitution and the rule of law.

It has been said that in America the law is king and yet we see a judiciary which is infested with an activist bent. And we see judges at all levels who appear eager to abandon the constitution as written and rule based upon their own sense of what they believe should be; judges who are willing to bend and mold the constitution and the law to fit their own idea of what the law should be, and judges who, despite their oath to the constitution seem to display more devotion to the opinion of other judges rather to the language and intent of the constitution. I know that one judge, in one county in Kansas cannot reverse this trend. But it is a start and I could no longer sit by, doing nothing as our Constitution became lost in the mists of time.

PRO- LIFE
I am pro life. Unashamedly so. From the day I first felt the stirring of my new baby in my womb I knew that the life that I carried was exactly that, a human life, which deserves the protection of law, and which has been bestowed by God with the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness which our nation was formed to secure, and our constitution is designed to protect. I am committed to the rule of law and, I understand that under the current legal landscape a district court judge may not be able to make a difference in the overarching issues relating to the protection of life. However, these issues do come before the courts. As a district court judge the current state of the law may prevent me from making a difference in all cases where the life of an unborn child is at stake, but if the law and the facts of a particular situation allow me to make the difference in a single case then my campaign will have been justified.

U.S ARMY VETERAN
I am a U.S. Army reservist. As such, I have taken an oath to defend and protect the United States Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. My grandfather drove a gasoline truck in the second world war and countless men and women before and since have laid down their lives to ensure that our Constitution is preserved and that it continues to secure the blessings of liberty for us and for our posterity. My oath is not limited to my military service. I believe that our constitution is in danger of being lost or eroded by judges, legislators and members of the executive branch, who have lost sight of our founding principles. My oath requires me to do what I can to protect the constitution. As a judge, I can effectively work to preserve the Constitution of the United States and the sovereignty of the State of Kansas.

EXPERIENCED
I was raised in the rural town of Peabody Kansas surrounded by the common sense of good common people. I put myself through college and law school. I have served as a prosecutor for the state of Kansas, the cities of Wichita, Park City and Maize. I have judicial experience as a municipal court judge. I have practiced in city, county and appellate courts of Kansas and have represented clients in civil, probate, criminal and juvenile matters. I have represented soldiers and served them and our country as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Throughout my life I have been infused with a respect for the Constitution and rule of law. This experience, both personal and professional, have prepared me to apply the law to the individual circumstances of the parties who may come before me as judge, and to do so with a respect for the rule of law and, when possible, with compassion and empathy for the circumstances of the parties before the court. My experience has prepared me, and my sense of duty has called me, to run for district court judge.

CHILD ADVOCATE
I have spent a great deal of my legal career as an advocate for children who have been abused, mistreated and neglected. While there are many dedicated people in the juvenile justice system who work tirelessly for the best interests of these children, the system is far from perfect and the advocates are limited in their ability to make a difference in the lives of individual children. The tendency toward a one size fits all paradigm which pervades government programs also affects the ability of the advocates involved in the Juvenile justice system to make a difference in the lives of the children they see. Through this experience I have learned that the one person who can make a difference in the lives of the individual kids is the Judge. I am motivated to run for judge because I believe that we can help these children. We can do it one child at a time.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
My experience volunteering in the community, interacting with the people and the children of our county has infused me with a sense that our community deserves to have judges and other public servants who are committed to preserving our constitution and upholding our founding principles. Without the preservation and renewal of these principles the American dream will die and, with it, the opportunity for our fellow citizens to achieve the potential with which they have been endowed by God. I am hopeful that all judges and judicial candidates are equally dedicated to the preservation of the Constitution. However, I could no longer sit back and hope that someone else would take up the cause.
